Lotus Does ABA Differently
How our journey began…
In ABA, you can have good therapists and bad therapists, or good BCBAs and bad BCBAs. Brittany likes compare the quality of staff to other disciplines: you can have a good doctor and you can have a bad doctor. Just because you’ve had a bad doctor doesn’t mean you should give up on medicine. The same can be said about ABA therapy - families shouldn’t give up on therapy after one bad experience. Lotus began so that we could redefine ABA therapy for children with Autism.
When Brittany and Michael moved here in 2021, Brittany found ethical issues, ill-trained staff, and a one-size fits all approach in many ABA companies in the area. At the end of 2021, Brittany and Michael founded Lotus to create a different way to do ABA. While Lotus has steadily grown, Brittany and Michael always want to maintain the foundation that everything we do is for the kids. Each kid is awesome and different! That is why we individualize our interventions and make them enjoyable. Brittany also believes that when we can provide consistency, there are amazing results.
We want to teach kids to build relationships, which is why we keep therapists with clients longer. This is not a common practice in ABA. Most companies switch therapists off a case within two months, sometimes even daily. We want clients to love our therapists! Being in-home allows us to work in the community to create incredible experiences for the clients and families. We always want to ask what we can do to make our client’s lives amazing. We teach concepts so that they can build upon foundational skills and demonstrate tremendous growth.
Ultimately, Lotus is here to help our clients and their families. There may be challenging moments, but in the end, we play with the kids all day and help make their lives better. Lotus will always focus on the highest quality, individualized, and most effective interventions for our clients, as well as provide a meaningful, supportive, and enjoyable experience for all of those involved.
